Holston Medical Group (HMG) announces that it will locate a medical records data center in the Duffield Industrial Park.

October 25, 2006  Duffield, Virginia - The $5.5 million project in the former Penn Virginia building in Duffield, will create 65 jobs with a projected annual wage of $68,000 and will help foster new economy for Southwest Virginia.  HMG’s Duffield location will access and store the digital medical records of patients for multiple practices and hospitals in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

This “announcement confirms, once again, the wisdom of the Tobacco Commission in its investment in high speed fiber infrastructure for Southwest Virginia,” said Delegate Terry Kilgore, vice chairman of the Virginia Tobacco Commission. 

The Scott County Economic Development Authority worked with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority to secure the project.  Other project partners include the LENOWISCO Planning District, the Duffield Development Authority, and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
