NASHVILLE – Homesteader, Inc., a manufacturer of high quality enclosed cargo trailers, hydraulic dump trailers and horse trailers, has announced plans to expand its existing facility in Claiborne County creating 200 new jobs. This expansion is the seventh since the plant began production in 1986.
“I am pleased that Homesteader has made the decision to expand its operations in Claiborne County, and create new job opportunities in the community,” said Tennessee Economic and Community Development Commissioner Matthew Kisber. “Our state’s strong business environment allows us to grow new and existing business investments that create jobs. Companies, like Homesteader, that continue to invest in our state’s economy and provide good-paying job opportunities for hardworking Tennessee families in the region, are doing so because they are finding Tennessee a great place to grow and be competitive.”
The company expects to add in excess of 200 employees over a 36-month period with this expansion, with positions ranging from assembly workers to supervision. Total employment for this facility is expected to reach over 400 employees by the completion of this project.
Dion Mountain, Homesteader president and CEO, said, “This expansion is due to the hard work and dedication of the Homesteader employees and staff. I appreciate their effort and pride in creating a high quality product.”
Mountain also acknowledged Homesteader’s customers, the leaders of the city of New Tazewell, Claiborne County, local financial institutions, the state of Tennessee, and the community for making the expansion possible.
Homesteader plans to add a new 80,000-square-foot production assembly plant and associated facilities, and will double the current production work area. The $2.75 million investment in building and equipment will bring the total investment to over $6.25 million. The expansion is scheduled to begin in late 2006/early 2007 with completion scheduled for 2008.
Homesteader is the largest one-site company in its industry in the United States.
